Chimney service in Kirkland

Wind-driven rain off Lake Washington, hitting one face harder than the rest. What we run into here, and why it is not what we run into three miles away.

What Kirkland chimneys are actually like

Kirkland is genuinely mixed, so the first job is establishing which kind of chimney you actually have. Near downtown and Norkirk there is older masonry with clay liners; in the developments further out it is mostly prefabricated chases.

What both share is exposure. Wind coming off the lake drives rain horizontally into one face of the chimney, and that face weathers years ahead of the other three. When we inspect here we pay particular attention to the windward side — spalling and mortar loss are rarely evenly distributed on a Kirkland chimney.
